On October 21st, Cinema Park invites you to the all-Russian premiere of the psychological horror film "Sandman." The film was produced by Ley Line Entertainment, known for the Oscar-winning film "Everything and Everywhere at Once," as well as "The Legend of the Green Knight" and "Death of the Unicorn."
The film is based on the graphic novel "Mr. Sandman" by Elisa Victoria, who collaborated with Michael Tully on the screenplay, combining elements of folklore and psychological thriller. Exploring themes of bullying, guilt, and retribution, the screenwriters paid special attention to the emotional dynamics and plot, where the struggle with internal demons is no less important than with external ones.
The director transforms each scene into a near-self-contained nightmare, where fear is palpable, and bullying is not only a social problem but also a trigger for supernatural retribution. Anna loses her parents and is forced to leave bustling New York City to live with her grandmother in Florida. This move symbolizes not only a physical change of location but also a transition into a new stage of life, where familiar landmarks crumble and the world appears in a new, more fragile form. She must adapt to an unfamiliar environment and seek support only within herself.
Arriving in this new environment, Anna meets teenagers and tries to establish connections, but a tragic incident draws her into a chain of events that awakens ruthless supernatural forces. The consequences of cruelty affect not only the perpetrators but also those around them, forcing them to consider the limits of responsibility, the power of choice, and the price of revenge. Moral questions are intertwined with Anna's personal story, transforming the horror film into a space where fear and ethics interact and force them to reconsider their traditional notions of good and evil.
