Young survivor of the Siege of Leningrad, Yura Tyukalov took up the sport after the war, when he seemed to have no strength left to live, much less endure grueling rowing training. But after meeting coaches Mikhail and Vera Savrimovich, Yura finds a second wind and begins anew. Their lives, scorched by war, are united in a team where everyone supports and inspires one another. Victories are not easy, but Yura has love, talent, and an unstoppable team: their goal: the Helsinki Olympics.
